Move slow stock to the branch that sells it

With two branches or more, “slow” is often a question of address: the item that sleeps in one branch is the one the other keeps running out of. PosMasr Cloud now puts the two facts on one page: beside each slow item, the branches where it sells, how many to move, and a button that makes the transfer. Here is how it works, how the quantity is worked out, and what it does not do yet.

Stock moving from one branch to another in PosMasr Cloud

Two branches, one rice

Hassan has two supermarkets, one in Shubra and one in Maadi. Last month he bought a good quantity of an imported basmati rice for both. In Shubra it barely moves: fifteen bags have been sitting there for seven weeks. In Maadi the shelf is empty every Thursday, and the branch manager calls to ask for more. Hassan knows both facts, but on different days, from different people — and the rice stays where it is.

The answer is not a discount in Shubra; it is a car to Maadi. That is what the slow-stock page now says by itself.

What the page shows

Open Inventory → Slow and dead stock and choose the branch at the top. Beside each slow item there is a Sells at column: every other branch where the same item sold in its reorder period, with its sales a day there, what it holds, and how long that lasts. For Hassan's rice it reads:

Maadi: 1.4 a day · 2 on hand · 1.4 days of cover → move 13 [Create transfer]

Above the list, one line per receiving branch: “3 product(s) could move to Maadi”, with Move all suggested to Maadi.

How many to move

  • Enough for the receiving branch to reach the days of cover the smart reorder keeps there (delivery days, order cycle and safety days, at its own rate), minus what it holds and has on order.
  • Never more than the sending branch can spare: it keeps what it expects to sell itself over the same days, because a slow item may still trickle out.
  • Two branches need it? The spare is shared out, the biggest need first.
  • Only branches that actually sold it are suggested, and only for an item active with its stock tracked in both.

These are fixed, explained rules on your own sales — the same ones as the reorder — not AI.

From suggestion to transfer

  1. Press Create transfer on one item, or Move all suggested to Maadi for every suggested item at once.
  2. The quantities come from the stock as it is at that moment, not as the page was when you opened it.
  3. You land on the ordinary numbered transfer note: print it and send it with the goods. Pressed twice by mistake? The goods do not move twice.

It is the existing transfer, with its usual rules: it needs the stock right, a branch manager works only on his own branches, and a till sends only out of its own branch.

Alerts, e-mail and Ask your shop

  • The weekly slow-stock alert adds “3 product(s) could move to Maadi”, and its link opens the right branch's page.
  • The summary e-mail, the Telegram summary and the shop's report e-mail carry the same lines.
  • In Ask your shop type “انقل إيه للمعادي” (what should I move to Maadi) and get the list, the biggest value first.

What it does not do yet

Said plainly:
• At once, unless you choose “in transit”. A transfer moves the stock out of one branch and into the other at once. Since 9 October a Chain shop with Warehouses on can choose “in transit” instead: the goods leave when sent and arrive when the other branch counts and receives them.
• Not in the program on your PC. It keeps one shop's stock and has no transfers; its Slow stock tab says so.
• It moves nothing by itself. It suggests; you press the button.
• A branch that never sold the item is not suggested, even if you think it would.

Which plans include it

Moving stock is for a shop with two branches or more on a plan with slow stock. In PosMasr Cloud that is the Chain plan: it has the branches and the transfers between them, at 5,000 EGP a month + 750 per extra branch. A plan without branch transfers shows the suggestions but not the button, and says “Creating the transfer needs a plan with branch transfers”.

It is PosMasr Cloud only. Every plan side by side is on the PosMasr Cloud page; for a chain, see PosMasr Cloud for chains.

Quick answers

Will Shubra be left with nothing?
No. The sending branch always keeps what it expects to sell itself over the same days.

Does it move stock without me?
Never. Nothing moves until someone with the stock right presses the button.

Can I change the quantities?
The button makes the suggested lines. For other quantities, make an ordinary transfer by hand, as before.

I have one branch. Does this help me?
Not this part: moving stock needs a second branch. The slow-stock list itself works for one branch too; see slow and dead stock.

Is this artificial intelligence?
No. It is the reorder's own arithmetic on your branches' sales; every number on the line shows where it came from.
