Questions
How do I get the price before VAT?
Divide the total by 1.14. For example 1,140 ÷ 1.14 = 1,000 EGP, and the VAT is 140.
Is VAT charged on the restaurant service charge?
Yes, the service charge is part of the amount VAT is charged on: 100 + 12 service = 112, and 14% VAT on 112 = 15.68.
Why can the list total differ by a piaster?
Because each line is rounded before they are added, as on an invoice. A piaster of difference is normal.
