41.9 Weight and volume: blends, tare, batches
- Online Settings → Weight and volume; on your PC Settings → Features. Pick a template: roastery, spices, sweets, fresh (butcher, fish, vegetables) or perfume.
- At the till type what the customer asks: “250 g”, “ربع” (a quarter kilo), “3 pcs”, or “50 جنيه” — the line then charges exactly 50 pounds. A container's tare is taken off by itself, and the note shows gross − tare. Scale labels and your own labels with a best-before date are read back exactly.
- Blends: parts by amount or by % of a size, a mixing
fee, the bottle or the customer's own; save a customer's formula (“Ahmed's mix”) and sell it again in one tap. Each part's stock goes down by what went in. - Batches (roasting, cleaning, packing a sack into bags): the input goes out, the outputs come in, the loss % and the cost carried to each output. Stock by weight report, and shrinkage or evaporation write-offs.
Plans: Shop and up online, Silver on your PC. The scales and label printers are driven as before; this round was not tried on a real scale. More: Selling by weight: blends, tare and batches · Scale barcode labels

Online · Weight and volume
For shops that sell by the gram, the kilo or the millilitre: roasteries, spice and sweets shops, butchers, greengrocers, perfume and oud shops. Every till reads these settings, also without internet.
Fills in the containers with typical tares and the units your trade uses. You can change everything afterwards.
Weighing with a container's tare, selling 20's worth, pieces of an item sold by the kilo, blends with saved formulas, your scale's labels and your own pre-packed labels.
The weight of an empty container in grams comes off the reading when the cashier picks it. Link a container to a product to charge for it (a bottle); leave it free otherwise.
A unit your trade uses with its size in grams (a weight) or millilitres (a volume): a 12 ml tola for oils, a local ratl.
Tick the layouts your label-printing scales use and set their prefix (I = item code, K = price check digit, V = value, C = check digit). The item code is the product's short barcode (its PLU). The marked one is used for the labels you print yourself.
Off: the receipt names the blend only (or "Custom blend #1") — a perfumer's formula stays the house's.
A product with the fee's price; a blend adds one of it (the cashier may leave it off).

Online · Roast, grind and pack
What goes in comes out of stock, what comes out goes in; the weight lost is recorded and the batch's cost is carried to what came out.
Roasting: 10 kg green in, 8.4 kg roasted out. Packing: 8.25 kg of the sack in, 33 bags of 250 g out (give the bag its piece weight under Settings) — what is left stays in the sack.
Meat trimmed, spices dried, oils evaporated: take it off the stock with its reason (the waste report lists it).

Online · Blends and formulas
The house blends and the formulas saved for customers at the till. A formula sells again in one tap at any size; each part's stock goes down by what goes in.
A house blend shows on every customer's list at the till.

Online · Weighed labels
For packing behind the counter: each label carries the item, the net, the unit price, the total, the packing day, the best-before and the same barcode a scale prints — the till charges it like a scale's label.
