41.3 Instalments and deposits, and VAT on deposits
- Switch it on: online Settings → Instalment settings; on your PC Settings → Features. Choose the most instalments allowed (1 to 60, 24 by default) and whether a stated mark-up is allowed (off by default). A cashier needs the right to make a plan, or a manager's approval.
- At the till: pick the customer → Credit → Instalments: the down payment (cash or card), any deposit the customer has, then N instalments every week or month from the first due date. The receipt is the whole sale, with its VAT, on the customer's account; the slip shows the schedule.
- Paying: any payment on the customer's account counts, the oldest instalment first. Instalments lists what is due and late, the deposits held, and the report.
- Deposits: take one from the Instalments page or the customer's page, use it on the final sale, or pay it back (with the right). With Charge VAT when a deposit is taken on — new shops start with it on; a shop from before answers a one-time question — the deposit gets its own tax invoice (
AV-000001) and its VAT falls in the month it was received; the final receipt deducts “advance already invoiced”, and a refund gets a credit note. On the e-receipt, the deposit goes as a one-line sale and its use as a return that names it, so the Tax Authority's figures match yours month by month.

A payment pays the oldest instalment due first; part payments are fine. A card payment is not counted as drawer cash.
Paid instalments stay as they are; what is left is spread again from the first due date.

Sell on a weekly or monthly schedule with a down payment, and take deposits on orders. Nothing shows at the till or in the menus until you switch it on.
Shows Instalments on the till's credit sale, the Instalments page under Customers and the deposits.
Off by default: a plan costs the customer the price of the goods only. When on, the cashier may state a fixed fee and / or a percentage of the part paid later; it is printed on the plan and added to the customer's account, not to the invoice.

Tax law usually treats money received before a sale as a payment on which VAT is due on the day you receive it. These settings decide how this shop handles deposits and the instalment mark-up.
Each deposit gets its own numbered tax invoice and its VAT counts in the period you received it. The final invoice deducts it, so VAT is never counted twice. Deposits taken before you switch this on stay as they were.
